We live in a vibrant, attractive collection of communities and neighborhoods here in the Southern Tier of New York. Tompkins and the surrounding counties represent one of the economically strongest, most diverse, culturally active areas of New York State. This makes our area attractive to people seeking employment and desiring to invest in our community by owning their own home.

Unfortunately, both of these opportunities are severely limited by a lack of new owner-occupied housing production and zoning, infrastructure, transportation and land use restrictions that discourage this needed production. As a result, employers can't attract new hires because potential employees can't find adequate housing, or our workforce population is forced to move further from their jobs taking their economic contribution with them while adding to our transportation burden.
